Rep. Barbara McCluskey wasn't even half right when she said three (?) weeks ago that Republicans are from Mars, while Democrats are down to Earth

She meant that in the sense that Republicans (usually read Conservatives) are insane or spaced out while Dems are NORMAL. Actually, in a parallel analogy to the famous John Gray book, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus , Conservatives think with MASCULINITY, while Liberals think with FEMININITY. These are the two genders and are often confused with the two sexes of MALE and FEMALE. There is a huge and VERY IMPORTANT difference. Sex and gender are not rigidly tied together, and every range of gender can be found with each sex though usually MM and FF will tend to be together. One person may be MALE yet somewhat FEMININE (eg. exercise guru Richard Simmons), while another may be FEMALE yet MASCULINE (eg. many top female sports stars).
In the political arena, we see a clash for power between the two genders. This is why I have said before that the "war" between Dems and Repubs is amazingly reminescent of the "war between the sexes" that we have all heard expressed. The next time you see the two sides going at each other on the floor of the House or Senate or on some TV talk show, just let your mind drift off to any case in your memory of a husband and wife yelling at each other and/or throwing objects at each other. Perhaps a classic movie will help you to understand politics better. So, now that you are enlightened with this new perspective, there is no need to watch Hannity, O'Reilly, or Beck. Just re-read John Gray's book. Then run for Congress.
