What Can The Susan Boyle Phenomenon Teach Us About Freedom?

Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle launched a huge new career for herself last week when she stunned that audience in Glasgow with her performance of "I Dreamed A Dream" from the play Les Miserables. Within 3 seconds of her first note, she had turned around a mocking crowd and owned the house! It was the perfect voice, the perfect song, and, yes, the perfect timing.

How do we explain the magic effect that continues to grow here in America? It was not just her perfect VOICE, though that will make her a star. That it was the perfect SONG is the heart of my message here. Most of us have never really heard and "experienced" that song because it hasn't seen much airtime on our FREE radio stations. Until Susan's night, that song usually had to be BOUGHT on CD or PAID for via a concert or Broadway play ticket. I would guess that 99% of British and American people never paid for that song. That song is now being played tens of millions of times on U-Tube. Yes, we play it over and over BOTH because of her voice and because it is new to us. That song has been around since 1985 waiting for us to discover it -- just as Susan Boyle has been singing for decades in church and at charities waiting for us to discover her. Now, God has brought these two together for us all and at this perfect TIMING.

Why the TIMING? Because we in America are losing our freedoms to liberals who want to shut down OUR voices. They want to stifle talk radio and FOX News. They don't "hear" our voices. They think we conservatives are just UGLY and should have no opportunity to perform on the world stage. The conservative voices really began to blossom on radio after 1987 with the repeal of the old "Fairness Doctrine". Now, liberals want to bring it back so as to shut us up. Can it be just a coincidence that Susan's performance was last Saturday in Britain -- just before our Tax Tea Party Day here in America? I don't think so! Her voice -- and ours -- cannot now be stopped!

The conservative voice is not new. It has always been and always will be. But it had been bottled up, shut up, and silenced in this country since 1865 when Northern Liberals finally put down the Conservative South here. The Declaration of Southern Independence was anathema to Northern Liberals. This same dichotomy between North and South still exists. Look at electoral maps! Most Northern States vote liberal and are blue. Most Southern and Western States vote conservative and are red. The causes of that separation 148 years ago were, I now see, much deeper at root than any of our establishment historians have ever seen. It wasn't just about States Rights or slavery. Those reasons were actually numbers two and three. The most fundamental reason for the separation was the conflict between Conservatism and Liberalism. This is the SAME ongoing conflict we still see today.

Northern Liberals have always been this way: they want freedom for themselves and will allow rights to Conservatives only on Liberal's terms. Geraldo Rivera last night (Saturday April 18th) reviled Texas Governor Rick Perry for noting that the Texas Constitution contains the specifically-spelled-out wording that Texas CAN secede from The Union if it ever so desired. Texas is the ONLY State that was admitted to The Union BY TREATY between TWO NATIONS. That means that the United States Senate RATIFIED that treaty in 1845 and, so, Texas' right to secede became LAW OF THE LAND according to the U. S. Constitution, Geraldo. Texas LAWFULLY exercised that right in 1861 and then ratified The Constitution of The Confederate States of America. The eleven CSA States were FORCED back into The Union after a war waged on them by Northern Liberals.

Now, because of a simple noting of the secession clause in the midst of a speech in which The Governor also noted that 34 other States (more Northern ones than Southern Ones, Geraldo) have taken up bills that invoke the Tenth Amendment and State sovereignty, Geraldo says that Perry is speaking treason! But, Geraldo doesn't understand the difference between treason and yearning to be free. Treason exists when a man sells military secrets to an enemy for cash. A separation movement is NOT treason! Was it treason for our 13 colonies to separate from Britain in 1776, Geraldo? Was it treason for Eastern European Block countries to separate from The Soviet Union in 1990, Geraldo? Liberals support separation movements all over the world. But if any movement of Conservatives to separate HERE from THEM threatens THEIR need for elitist control, THEY stamp it out! THEY call it "treason" and send in police or troops.

All this is why Susan Boyle's Big Night was so important. Cinderella was held down for so long by her three ugly sisters and the local society could not see her true beauty. Likewise, Conservatism is held down by big UGLY sisters of Liberalism. Cinderella busted out Saturday night. She had her moment at The Ball and Conservatism will too.

When Susan's first CD album comes out, I will claw my way to the front of the line to buy it. I'm sure Geraldo will buy a copy too. But he won't understand it's significance. He will just enjoy the emotional experience. We don't hate you Geraldo. Conservatives don't hate. Liberals mistake righteous anger for hate. What we do is feel sorry for you liberals because your minds have been blinded by the "god of this world" who himself can never dream a righteous dream.

I find myself wanting to know ALL the words to "The Song". I yearn to hear the full version of it by Susan. That night, British people heard it FREE on their TVs. But Susan's performance might not have come to America (where it is needed most) had she not been ugly. Her looks and the irony of it all were the reason "The Song" came here. She was held back because of prejudice. "The Song" was held back because it wasn't free. We Conservatives are held back by Liberal domination. But, Susan will be beautiful in the next life. "The Song" will last forever. And Liberalism will be put in it's place. This is FOR US now because we get to hear "The Song" and it's hidden message of Freedom.
